Shopping Market in Haldwani

Where to Shop in Haldwani

Haldwani has the major area covered with markets. Many of these markets are adjacent to each other but are totally different in terms of the items they sell. It is a good thing that tourists and local people don’t have to walk long distances to visit all the markets. Since the markets are filled with tourists, the shop owners deliberately hike their prices. It is up to you to tackle them and do some bargaining.

The Naya Bazaar is a market especially for women’s clothes. Best-in-quality clothing along with latest styles make this bazaar a must-visit for all the women planning to go on a shopping spree.
The road to Nainital from Haldwani (but basically part of Haldwani only) has lots of shops. These shops sell the locally made items like shoes, clothes, handicrafts etc. But there are plenty of branded showrooms here as well. Benetton, Pepe Jeans, Gini and Jony, Levi's etc are some of the brands available.

The Bartan Bazaar is famous because all the shops here are selling steel utensils. Since all the shops here are selling the same items and stuff, they tend to easily succumb to the bargaining done by tourists and the local people. There is such a strong competition between the shopkeepers that you can get everything at a much discounted rate. The steel from which the utensils are made is of an excellent quality.

Railway Bazaar and Bhutia Bazaar are known as one-stop destinations. Each and every item is available in these markets. Clothes, shoes, local handicrafts, street food stalls, sweets, souvenirs, etc. are all available in these markets. Though they don’t have anything unique, these markets are pretty nice and offer everything at a short stretch of the road.

The Almora Bazaar is a famous bazaar for sweets. The Indian Vegetable Market at Haldwani is famous for selling absolutely fresh vegetables and fruits. Freshly picked up from the farms, these vegetables are pure and free from any harmful chemicals. Vegetable farms in hilly areas are known for the best-in-class produce. This market is famous for just that.

The Thandi Sadak is a famous road in Haldwani. There is a stream of water flowing parallel to this road and because of this, the temperature of this road generally remains lower than anywhere else in the city. This is the reason why it is called ‘thandi’ sadak, thandi meaning cool. You will find local confectionary shops, bakeries and other small shops selling general items.
